Requirements for successful authors

Full paper: All successful authors (oral and poster) must submit a full paper for inclusion in the proceedings volume – this will be published in hard copy and electronic formats. Guidelines for paper preparation will be forwarded to all successful authors.

Oral presentation: presenters would be requested to make a 20 minute oral presentation at the workshop.

Poster presentation: presenters would be requested to present a poster and present a five minute oral presentation outlining their work. Guidelines for preparing posters can be downloaded here

Registration: All presenters are required to register for the workshop and pay the registration fee. All presenters must register by 15 January 2012. Failure to register by this date will result in the presentation being withdrawn from the program, and the abstract will therefore not be published.

Theme and topics

Abstracts should address one of the following themes:

  • Breakthrough safety
  • Fundamental chemistry research
  • Process development and optimisation
  • Process control and measurement
  • Engineering technology and developments
  • Impurities and scale management
  • Maintenance practices and technologies
  • Health, environment and licence to operate
  • Energy and water
  • Alumina quality - smelter and refinery perspectives
  • Bauxite mining practice sand quality
  • Residue and other by-products

Best overall presentation (one prize on offer)

Criteria

  • You will be the principal presenter of the paper onsite at the workshop
  • The decision will be based entirely on the paper presentation at the workshop. The winner will be selected by members of the technical program committee and leaders in the industry and will be announced at the workshop gala dinner on Wednesday 21 March 2012.

Eligibility

  • All paper submitters will automatically be eligible for this prize

Best student paper (five prizes on offer)

Criteria

  • You will be the principal presenter of the paper onsite at the conference
  • You will be enrolled full or part time in an undergraduate or postgraduate degree at the time of submission (proof of student status must be forwarded to the workshop managers via email)

The decision will be based entirely on the paper that is submitted for the workshop. Winners will be selected by members of the technical program committee and leaders in the industry with the five winners to be advised by email by the workshop managers in October 2011

Prize

  • Complimentary fulltime student workshop registration
  • Return economy airfares from nearest capital city
  • Four nights accommodation at theworkshop hotel

Note: accommodation will be booked by the workshop managers; winners must be able to provide invoices/receipts for travel in order for reimbursement to be made

Best student presentation (one prize on offer)

  • Submitters must nominate themselves for this award at the time of abstract submission and must provide proof of student status to the workshop managers via email to program@aqw.com.au.

Notification of acceptance

Authors will be notified of initial abstract acceptance or otherwise in June 2011. Successful authors will be invited to submit a full paper once initial acceptance has been advised – final acceptance into the program will be advised following peer review of full papers in October 2011.

  • Upload additional abstract submissions (if required)

  • Submit your final paper (when instructed)

NOTE: You will not be able to update your abstract, replace a current abstract or upload additional abstracts once the submission deadline has passed on 10 June 2011.
